English Translations:

Psalm 148

Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord from the heavens;
praise him in the heights!
Praise him, all his angels;
praise him, all his hosts!
Praise him, sun and moon;
praise him, all stars of light!
Praise him, highest heavens, and the waters that are above the heavens!
Let them praise the name of the Lord, for he commanded and they were created.
He has also established them forever and ever;
he has made a decree which will not pass away.
Praise the Lord from the earth, sea monsters and all deeps;
Fire and hail, snow and clouds;
stormy wind fulfilling his word;
Mountains and all hills;
fruit trees and all cedars;
Beasts and all cattle;
creeping things and winged fowl;
Kings of the earth and all peoples;
princes and all judges of the earth;
Both young men and virgins;
old men and children.
Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted,
his glory is above earth and heaven.
And he has lifted up a horn for his people, praise for all his godly ones;
for the sons of Israel, a people near to him.
Praise the Lord!

Psalm 97

The Lord reigns, let the earth rejoice;
let the many islands be glad
Clouds and thick darkness surround him;
righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.
Fire goes before him and burns up his adversaries round about.
His lightnings lit up the world;
the earth saw and trembled.
The mountains melted like wax at the presence of the Lord,
at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.
The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the peoples have seen his glory.

Psalm 93

The Lord reigns, he is clothed with majesty;
the Lord has clothed and girded himself with strength;
indeed, the world is firmly established, it will not be moved.
Your throne is established from of old;
you are from everlasting.
The floods have lifted up, O Lord, the floods have lifted up their voice,
the floods lift up their pounding waves.
More than the sounds of many waters, the mighty breakers of the sea,
the Lord on high is mighty.
Your testimonies are fully confirmed;
holiness befits your house, O Lord, forevermore.

Psalm 117

Praise the Lord, all nations;
laud him, all peoples!
For his lovingkindness is great toward us, and the truth of the Lord is everlasting.
Praise the Lord!

Psalm 111

Praise the Lord!
I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart,
in the company of the upright and in the assembly.
Great are the works of the Lord;
they are studied by all who delight in them.
Splendid and majestic is his work, and his righteousness endures forever.
He has made his wonders to be remembered;
the Lord is gracious and compassionate.
He has given food to those who fear him;
he will remember his covenant forever.
He has made known to his people the power of his works in giving them
the heritage of the nations.
The works of his hands are truth and justice;
all his precepts are sure.
They are upheld forever and ever;
they are performed in truth and uprightness.
He has sent redemption to his people;
he has ordained his covenant forever;
holy and awesome is his name.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
all those who do his commandments have a good understanding;
his praise endures forever.

Fader, stilla våra andar (2002)

Fader, stilla våra andar (Swedish)

Fader, stilla våra andar
När dagen ändes;
Låt stillheten av högre nejder
Lugna den strävande mänsklighetens lidande.
Låt himmelens vidhet
Lyfta våra tankar till högre nejder;
Låt hetsen för ägodelar
Bli ädel strävan.
Amen.

English Translation:

Father, Give a Tranquil Spirit

Father, give a tranquil spirit
As the day comes to its ending;
Let the peace of higher places
Still the woes of striving mankind.
Let the vastness of the heavens
Give our thoughts a loftier setting;
Let the fever of possession
Pass in nobler aspiration.
Amen.

English Translation:

Psalm 121

I will lift up my eyes to the mountains;
from whence shall my help come?
My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
He will not allow your foot to slip;
He who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is your keeper;
The Lord is your shade on your right hand.
The sun will not smite you by day, nor the moon by night.
The Lord will protect you from all evil;
He will keep your soul.
The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in
from this time forth and forevermore.

Butcher Shop (1996)

Butcher Shop

Sometimes walking late at night
I stop before a closed butcher shop.
There is a single light in the store
Like the light in which the convict digs his tunnel.

An apron hangs on the hook:
The blood on it smeared into a map
Of the great continents of blood,
The great rivers and oceans of blood.

There are knives that glitter like altars
In a dark church
Where they bring the cripple and the imbecile
To be healed

There is a wooden block where bones are broken,
Scraped clean – a river dried to its bed
Where I am fed,
Where deep in the night I hear a voice.
